On 19 December 2017 (Tuesday) 5.p.m, the Confucius Institute at University of Szeged invited
Due to the foundation of Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged, in the last five years, many thousands of people from the Southern region of Hungary had the chance to get familiar with the oldest civilizations to have ever existed in the world which is Chinese language and culture. Owing to the jubilee, the Institute held a grand ceremony where guests had the pleasure to enjoy several programs and gala performances.
This year in December, the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged organizes a „Chinese Talent Show” which is the national preliminary round contest for the forthcoming Chinese Bridge Competition in 2018.
On November 6th 2017, Monday, the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged participated at SZTE Road Show for High School Students at József Attila High School in Makó.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary for the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign High School Students, organized by the Confucius Institute’s Headquarters (Hanban). The Preliminary Rounds for national qualifying was in April, took place in Szeged and was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Budapest. It was won by the student of the SZTE Confucius Institute; Ekler-Szabó Botond Alexander – student of Karinthy Frigyes High School, Budapest. The runner-up was Máté Kollmann – student of the Chinese – Hungarian Bilingual School. Both of them got the chance to travel to the finals between 17th and 28th October, held in China, in Yunnan province, city of Kunming.
On 3 December 2017, HSK 1, HSK 2, HSK 3, HSK 4 and HSK5 written exams, as well as HSKK I. and HSKK II. oral language exams are available at Confucius Institute at University of Szeged.
10 students from the Confucius Institute at University of Szeged ended a two-week summer camp in China. This year, the summer camp took place both in Beijing and Shanghai.

On Aug. 5th and 6th, staffs of Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged attended Szeged Lotus Day in Szegedi Tudományegyetem Füvészkert. In the festival, citizens could enjoy the shows of traditional Indian dance, spiritual world music, and oriental martial arts, or try the flavours of the Far East, Tibetan singing bowls, yoga, Thai massage and pottery.
First time organized Chinese Panda Camp for kindergarten kids and junior school students on 19th – 23rd June 2017 at Agóra turned out to be a great success in Szeged.
On 19th and 20th June 2017 Hungary was honored that Budapest could host the Gateway to Health exhibition and related conference with the participation of China and 16 CEE countries on which the University of Szeged and SZTE Confucius Institute were also represented.
On 15 June 2017 (Thursday) SZTE Confucius Institute took part in China Day event organized at Makó Primary School where a number of various and interesting kind of programs were introduced for primary school students.
On 6 June 2017 (Wednesday) SZTE Confucius Institute introduced a Tai Chi performance in front of the Rector’s Office at Dugonics square.
On 24 May 2017 (Wednesday) a so-called Jankay on stage talent gala show was held at Jókai Theater where Chinese language learning students also introduced some performance on stage in the city of Békéscsaba.
On 19 May 2017 (Friday) the SZTE Confucius Institute took part in the Family Day of Gregor József Primary School which was held at the Gellért Leisure Center in Újszeged.
On 26 May 2017, Saturday, Confucius Institute at University of Szeged took part in the Family Day organized by Jankay Tibor Bilingual Primary School in Békéscsaba.
28 May 2017 (Sunday) on the occasion of Children’s Day, Panda Day was organized by SZTE Confucius Institute where all kids and parents were welcomed to participate at Szeged Zoo. The event turned out to be a great success as hundreds of guests joined to the activities.

On 10th April 2017, from 2.00 p.m., Richárd Mohr and Lin Zhang - directors of the Confucius Institute in Szeged - complied to an invitation of Head of Secretariat Gyöngyi Nemesné Kis from the faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies at University of Szeged.
On 30 March 2017, late afternoon, Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged held the first Chinese food sampling event entitled "Chopsticks and Bamboo, a Gastronomic Adventure to the Real Taste of China” in WOK N’GO Chinese restaurant in order to promote cultural exchanges between China and Hungary, and also to build up a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture.
On 6 April 2017, Thursday, 5 p.m., within the joint organization of SZTE Confucius Institute and Szeged Public Coffee House, Confucius Tea House took place where Cao Zheng Yin Joy, owner of Wok n’ Go restaurant, gave a lecture.

At the invitation of Confucius Institute at University of Szeged, the Golden Bear prize winner, Chinese film director and screenplay writer, Fei Xie has arrived to Szeged.
On 20th March 2017, from 5 p.m. we could hear a very interesting and fascinating lecture from archeologist Yvett Paluch-Kujáni, who works for the Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged. Last year, she had an opportunity to explore the cultural and archaeological heritages of Henan and Shaanxi provinces in China.
On March 17th, 5 p.m., the Chinese Film Festival hosted by the Confucius Institute at University of Szeged was organized in the City Center Cinema of Szeged. His Excellency Duan Jielong , Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, and his wife, Mrs. Li Bei, Mr. Hua Wu, Leader of Education Division, Mr. Yuan Cao, Director of Government Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nagy Katalin, Vice President of the University of Szeged and Chairwoman of the International Cooperation Council of the Hungarian Principals Association, Prof. Dr. Karsai Krisztina, Vice President of the University of Szeged, and Mr. Fei Xie, famous Chinese film director, Mr. Zhang Lin, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged, and Mr. Mohr Richard, Hungarian Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese Film Days.

The athmospehere is always very good in Chinese lessons at Almási Primary School, which is member of Makó Education Center. On 17th March 2017, the SZTE Confucius Institute hold an open lesson, where children’s relatives could view into the Chinese teaching and learning.

The Lantern Festival is marking the 15th day of the lunar New Year celebration, was held on 9th of February (Thursday) at SZTE Confucius Institute, where a lot of exciting Chinese activities awaited guests.

This year, on 18th January, 2017 we hold our first Confucius Teahouse at 5.00 p.m. Our guest was Mr Sándor Mészáros, formal Hungarian ambassador. Between 1968-1969, he was a student at Marx Károly University of Economics, after than he attended classes at Moscow International Relations Institute.
