SZTE CI Students Shine in Pécs at the 2024 "Chinese Bridge" Competition

On May 24, 2024, local time, 15 contestants from across Hungary competed at the 23rd Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Hungarian Final in Pécs. The competition was hosted by the Cultural and Education Department of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, organized by the Confucius Institute of the University of Pécs, Hungary, and co-organized by the Confucius Institutes of Eötvös Loránd University, Szeged University, Miskolc University, and Debrecen University.

At the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao expressed his gratitude to the event organizers and the teachers for their dedication to education, and encouraged young people to participate in and promote China-Hungary cultural exchanges and cooperation.

The competition was divided into three parts: prepared speeches around the theme of "One World, One Family"., question and answer, and talent show.

 

Puskás József, Zoller Adrienn and Balázs Bianka from the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged won respectively the first prize, second prize and encouragement prize. Puskás will represent Hungary in the global final and participate in cultural programs. Ms Simon Adrienn, one of the five judges of the competition, chief translator of the Hungarian Translation Bureau and a famous sinologist, encouraged the contestants to learn Chinese with even greater enthusiasm.
