Scholarship Notice - 2021 Shanghai Summer School

I. Introduction

Shanghai Summer Program, abbreviated as 3S, is a scholarship program sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Government since 2010, aiming to encourage foreign young students to learn Chinese language and experience Chinese culture. Entrusted by Shanghai Municipal government, Shanghai international Studies University (SISU) has hosted successfully since 2015 one of the 3S programs (the Belt and Road Countries Program). Due to the impact of COVID-19 worldwide, 2021 Shanghai Summer School will be hosted online.

 

II. Duration

From July 12 to August 6, 2021 (four weeks)

Online Opening Ceremony: July 11.

 

III. Curriculum Contents
  1. Chinese courses (online): including grammar, vocabulary, reading, speaking, listening comprehension, etc. From 9:00 to 12:00 (Hungarian Time).
  2. Cultural experiencing activities: Online Travel to the Bund, People’s Square and NanJing Road, Online Visit to the Site for the First National Congress of CPC, Online Visit to the historical and modern venues in Shanghai, Appreciation of Porcelain Production and Porcelain Culture, Appreciation of Tea Culture and the silk culture, etc.
  3. Theme lectures: Investigation of the contemporary world from the perspective of Confucianism, China’s Foreign Economic Relations and China-US-Europe Strategic Interactions.

 

IV. Admission Qualifications: foreigners with age between 16 to 40 years old, in good health who have been registered students at the Confucius Institute at SZTE for the past year.

 

V. Application deadline: May 31, 2021

 

VI. Application documents:
  1. English CV (with details of Chinese language studies)
  2. English Cover Letter
  3. Curriculum vitae written in Chinese is an advantage, as well as documented active participation in educational and cultural programs organized by the Institute (language exam, Chinese Bridge, courses, events)
