February 13, 2015

On the one hand Spring Festival is the beginning of spring and on the other hand is the beginning of a new year and for this reason it has two purposes. Firstly, it is a good reason for the family to gather together and give presents to each other and to extend their good wishes. Secondly, this is the time for saying farewell to the old year, get rid of its nuisances and also try to ensure good luck for the forthcoming new year as well. The Year of the Goat starts from the 19th of February. For this reason, the Confucius Institute of the University of Szeged organizes a Spring Festival on 15 February, Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Szent-Györgyi Albert Agora.

At the event the guests can participate in a great variety of programs. The program includes lion dance, calligraphy exhibition and show, martial arts show and different kind of skillful games. Guest may also try traditional Chinese matrimonial dresses, they can try calligraphy as well by their own, they can learn some Chinese words, and also they can taste traditional Chinese foods as well. Moreover, the organizers try to introduce China by broadcasting short films about China.

On the event, a multimedia device will be given away as a present to the city of Szeged by SZTE Confucius Institute, and the device will be set in the Agora. The device will be given to Orbán Hedvig director of Agora and Szabó Sándor representative of the Hungarian Parliament by Dr. Ujhelyi István representative of the European Parliament, president of SZTE Confucius Institute and Dr. Cao Hang Chinese director of SZTE Confucius Institute.
