Traditional tea-making ritual performed by SZTE Confucius Institute at Budapest Office of MPs

The Great Wall Association of Friendship between Chinese and Hungarians announced an art competition with the title „5000-year-old China” for Hungarian kindergartens and primary schools. The primary objective of the competition was to draw children’s attention to the multicolour Chinese culture and encourage students to prepare related artistic works.

Applicants could join the competition either individually or in groups and by the 15 January deadline more than 2000 works were submitted from all over the and from abroad as well. The announcement of results took place on 10 February within the Chinese New Year Festival in Budapest.

The main objective of the Association is the spreading of Chinese heritage and culture in Hungary, so they organized an exhibition at the Budapest Office of MPs open to all visitors. The exhibition was opened by Lajos Oláh, President of the Great Wall Association of Friendship between Chinese and Hungarians. Our Institute was represented by István Ujhelyi, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, President of the Advisory Board of our Institute and at the same time the patron of the event; Lívia Szentmártoni, Director and Zhang Xuemei, Vice-Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged. Performed by our Chinese teachers, participants of the event could take part in a traditional tea-making ritual and had the chance to taste the unique, relishable Chinese tea.
