His Excellency Xiao Qian, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China has started his work in Hungary

HE. Xiao Qian, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary, held a reception for assumption of office at Hotel Marriott on 15 January. Gábor Szabó, Rector of the University of Szeged and Lívia Szentmártoni, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged also participated in the event.

Xiao Qian, formerly working as a diplomat in Washington and the Philippines emphasized that as an Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary he aspires to realize the agreements between the leaders of the two countries, continue developing legislative relationships and encourage the continuos development of both the friendship and the cooperative partnerships of China and Hungary. The Ambassador flavoured his speech by Hungarian sayings – pronounced with surprising perfection for the delight of the Hungarian audience. During the reception Gábor Szabó, Rector of the University of Szeged invited His Excellency to visit the University, who promised to do so and visit the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged as well.
