2012. December 20.

During the three-day-long event, attendants had the chance to personally meet and discuss their potential questions with the department heads of Hanban. Directors had the opportunity to get to know and purchase brand-new teaching aids, multimedia language teaching devices during the language teaching exhibition and fair accompanying the conference. The conference was also an excellent opportunity for institutes to introduce themselves: directors and board presidents gave lectures on the operation of their institutes; future plans desired by Hanban; on the know-how of language exams; the cooperation among the institutions, universities and local governments and received advice on successful organization of educational and cultural programs. Networking with foreign colleagues also provided a perfect chance of discussions and future cooperation.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged was represented by István Ujhelyi, President of Advisory Board; Lívia Szentmártoni, Director and Zhang Xuemei, Chinese Director. During the conference the newly established institute - which had organized a great number of successful programs within its 2-month existence – was in the centre of Hanban’s attention. President Ujhelyi was sincerely asked to give a presentation on the cooperation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Szeged, the University, the city of Szeged and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary. Our fresh and successful institute also drew the attention of one of the associates of CCTV (Chinese Central Television), who was happy to meet the representatives of our institute after Mr. Ujhelyi’s presentation.

During the closing event of the conference, Xu Lin, Director of Confucius Institute Headquarters expressed her gratitude for the Confucius Institute representatives’ participation and emphasized her hope to welcome even more Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom associates at the conference in the following year.
